Traditionally, pomegranates have been tied to good fortune and luck. If you want something delicious, try these recipes. The beautiful natural red color, texture, and tartness are perfect for a delightful holiday punch. 

You will want the following ingredients:

  • 1 part tequila
  • 1/2 part apple brandy
  • 1/3 part lemon juice
  • 1/3 part lime juice
  • 2/3 part pomegranate-piloncillo syrup
  • freshly grated ginger
  • Dried apple slice and pomegranate seeds for garnish

Take the tequila, brandy, lemon juice, lime juice, and pomegranate-piloncillo syrup in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Add a touch of fresh ginger and shake until chilled.   • You will want to get the following:
  • 1 1/2 parts tequila
  • 1/2 part lemon juice
  • 3/4 part mulled mole wine syrup 
  • 1 egg white
  • Soda water, to top
  • Chocolate shaving garnish

Add ¼ part of mulled mole wine syrup to a chilled Collins glass. Add the tequila, egg white, lemon juice, and the rest of the mulled wine syrup to a cocktail shaker. Shake the ingredients (without ice) to combine the ingredients. After a dry shake, you will want to add ice to chill. Strain the liquid into the Collins glass and top it with the soda water. Garnish with chocolate shavings.

How to make the mulled mole wine syrup:

  • 1 full-bodied red wine
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 star anise pods
  • 8 cloves
  • 8 allspice berries
  • 16 black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 8 almonds
  • 10 black raisins
  • 2 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 orange peel
  • 1 lemon peel

You will want to use a medium-sized saucepan over medium-low heat with the cinnamon, cloves, allspice, star anise, almonds, and sesame seeds to toast until fragrant. After that, add lemon zest, orange juice, nutmeg, orange zest, wine, raisins, and sugar. Bring to a boil for 15 minutes until thick. Remove from the stove and let it cool down. You will want to strain it into a container to refrigerate.

The champagne corn cob syrup is easy to make. You will want the following:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 21 cups flat champagne or sparkling wine
  • 3 leftover corn cobs 
  • 3 cracked cardamom pods

You need to place all the other ingredients in a pot and bring them to a boil over medium heat. Turn the heat down and simmer for 30 minutes—strain into a container with a resealable lid. Make sure to refrigerate.

Piña De Mi Corazón

This recipe is excellent if you want a mulled punch with homemade tepache and pineapple juice. The honey, caramel, and vanilla notes perfectly match the tequila’s agave flavor.

You want to grab these ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 parts tequila
  • 4 parts hot ponche mix 
  • Freshly grated cinnamon garnish

This drink will need an Irish Coffee mug or a 6-ounce tempered glass. Add the tequila and top with a ladle of the hot ponche mix. Make sure to garnish with freshly grated cinnamon. 

To make the hot ponche mix, you will need the following:

  • 2 liters of tepache
  • 1 juiced pineapple
  • 2 cups of unfiltered apple juice
  • 8 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 cup lightly crushed cardamom pods
  • 1 tablespoon cloves
  • 4 allspice berries
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 8 star anise pods
  • 1 orange peel
  • 1 lime peel
  • 1 lemon peel

Bring all the ingredients together to a boil. Once you have a boil, lower the heat and simmer at low heat for 10 minutes. It is also a simple recipe if you want to know how to make the tepache. 

You will need the following:

  • 1 whole pineapple
  • 1 cup turbinado sugar
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 cloves
  • 2 liters water

Cut up a fresh pineapple but keep the peels. You will want to put the pineapple through a blender and keep the juice for this recipe. Combine the pineapple peels, pulp, turbinado sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and water. Cover a pitcher but give it space to breathe. Allow it to infuse for 24 hours.
