Are you looking to host a girls’ night in with some of your best gal pals? Hosting a girls’ night can be a lot of fun, but throwing a great party takes some planning.

While it can be fun to paint the town red with your lady friends, going out is expensive, and it takes a lot of coordination and planning. Plus, it can sometimes be tough to bond with your girlfriends and have in-depth discussions when you’re in the middle of a crowded, noisy bar.

Hosting a girls’ night in is the perfect way for you to blow off some steam and unwind with your gal pals.

Check out this article to discover the best ideas for a girls’ night in.

1. Set Up a Food and Drink Station

Cocktails

No girls’ night is complete without some delicious drinks and snacks. If you’re not feeling like doing anything extravagant, you can pick up some candy or order in some takeout.

But, one thing that can be fun is setting up a cocktail station. Lay a fun tablecloth over your table, and set out some wine, beer, alcohol, mixers, and ice.

Or, for those who don’t want to make their own cocktails, you can also set out some canned cocktails and bottled cocktails.

It can also be a ton of fun to set up a wine tasting table, and if everyone is in the mood to put their chef hats on, you could also take a virtual cooking class together. This can be an excellent way to bond with your gal pals and try a new dish.

Or, you can have everyone whip up a dish to share, so you have a smorgasbord of good snacks to munch on!

2. Host a Game Night

A game night can be an excellent way for you and your friends to unleash your competitive sides. Here are some fun board games you can play on game night:

  • Cards Against Humanity
  • Apples to Apples
  • Scrabble
  • Exploding Kittens
  • Bananagrams
  • Ticket to Ride

It can also be a lot of fun to make up your own trivia game. Have everyone write up a handful of trivia questions about themselves. For example, someone can write, “How old was (insert name) when she had her first kiss?”

Then, all of the other girls can write down their guesses. You can tally the points and even award an inexpensive prize at the end to the girl with the most points.

3. Host a Spa Night

It’s not a true girls’ night unless there is some pampering involved. Have everyone bring  a robe, a towel, and slippers, and purchase some scented candles and play some calming music to set the mood.

To make sure everything goes off without a hitch, we suggest setting up stations that everyone can rotate between every 15 to 20 minutes. Here are some ideas for the different stations you can set up:

  • Manicure and pedicure station complete with nail polish, nail polish remover, cotton balls, lotion, pumice stones, and nail clippers
  • A facial station complete with makeup remover, face masks, skin cleanser, moisturizer, and toner
  • A meditation/aromatherapy station complete with essential oils, calming music, floor pillows, and candles

You can also set up a massage station if people are willing to give each other massages.

4. Host a Swap Party

Girls’ Night

Do you have a bunch of old stuff sitting around your house? Chances are, all of your girlfriends have some items that they’ve been meaning to get rid of but haven’t had a chance to.

This is where the swap party comes in. With a swap party, you have everyone bring a few or more items that they’ve been meaning to donate (i.e., clothes, books, puzzles, cooking utensils, shoes, etc.).

Then, you organize everything into different piles around the room, and everyone can spend some time “shopping” through the piles. Once everyone is done shopping, people can show off their new finds to each other, and anything that doesn’t get chosen will be taken in for donation!

Not only does this make for an entertaining girls’ night, but it can also motivate people to go through their closets and get rid of old stuff.

5. Host a Theme Night

Theme nights are always a great time, as they give people an excuse to dress up and explore something new.

For example, you could host an 80s theme night with you and your girlfriends where everyone dresses up in 80s clothes, and you dance along to 80s music and jazzercise videos.

Or, you could host a Mexican theme night where you drink margaritas, cook some Mexican food, and dance to salsa music. Some other excellent theme night ideas for your girls’ night include:

  • Hawaiian night
  • Murder mystery night
  • Masquerade ball night
  • Disco night
  • Hollywood glam night
  • Casino night
  • Western night
  • Paris night

There are plenty of different themes you can explore. Just make sure you pick the theme well enough in advance so everyone has time to shop for costumes.

6. Host a Craft Night

A craft night can be an excellent way for you and your girlfriends to explore your creative sides and try something new.

You can either check out Pinterest and plan a craft that you’re all going to make, or you can buy a bunch of art supplies and let everyone figure out what they want to do.

Or, if you have a friend who is super crafty, you can have them teach their skill to the other girls. For example, if you have a girlfriend who is really good at crocheting, then she can teach everyone how to crochet a blanket.
